Join Me for Some PomPom Fun !

Welcome! Hope you are enjoying the blog hop so far. Those are some amazingly talented women out there sharing with us! Here is the list of today's participants:
April 29th

This  blog hop has been so fun. Lots of creative ideas. When I heard about it, it reminded me of all the pom poms we used to make when our kids were little. Of course back then there were no cool pom pom makers like Clover makes now. We had cardboard that we wrapped yarn around.  I LOVE the Clover pom pom makers. Fast and easy! They really make it easy to make 2 colored pom poms as well as solid color pom poms.  Different yarn makes different textured pom poms. If I want it more fluffy, I use a comb specifically for crafting and "comb" the pom pom yarn, then trim it. (see the photo of the two toned pom pom. I made it two toned to make it easier to see the difference of before and after trimming the pom pom. It started like the solid green one. The white portion, I combed then trimmed.)

I decided I wanted to make something cute from pom poms since my granddaughter had been visiting. I thought a fairy with pom pom body and hair, beige chenille stems for arms/legs and gold glitter chenille stems for high heels. She needed something to sit on, so I made a pompom tree with a swing.

Once I was done with the fairy and tree, I was hooked on making pom poms. I made a mouse with a lace skirt, a bunny with a pom pom nose, a chick hatching from a walnut "egg", a Christmas elf, and a Santa napkin ring. Some were with store bought pom poms from my stash as I needed tiny ones.

I thought I needed to start working on my bird projects, but that reminded me of the cute pencil toppers we used to make. So I made a couple pencils toppers. The bird one is glued to the pencil eraser, the google eyed one is glued to a chenille stem that is wrapped around the pencil. The little raccoon has a loop on the back of his tree stump to loop on the pencil.

I have included a photo of an apron ornament that I made for 2012 Christmas. I wanted you to see the cute tinsel pom pom trim I found in the ribbon department of a local craft store.

A big Thanks to Madame Samm who creates all these awesome blog hops and runs SewWeQuilt.com and Thearica from Pig Tales and Quilts who is our cheerleader.

Thanks for stopping by. Enjoy the rest of the hop!

My Sewing/Craft Room

We had a wonderful visit with our Granddaughter last week. We visited the Alamo, Mission Concepcion, one of the "Diners, Drive-ins and Dives" restaurants, the Riverwalk in San Antonio, NASA, Galveston and the Gulf of Mexico, Ice Cream Factory and a 50's diner, a peacock farm and we went letterboxing.

I posted about my new sewing/craft room a while back, but it was not even remotely organized so no photos. Well, it's still a work in progress, but I have a few photos. The awesome cutting table in the center of the room was built by my DH from old cabinets we weren't using anymore. He flipped them upside down, added casters to one side so I could move it easily if needed, yet didn't move unless I wanted it to move. He made a new top that extended out a bit longer than my cutting board for pin holders and my coffee mug. I love it! On the left side of the room and against the windows are my scrapbooking and cardmaking tables/shelves. On the right is shelving for quilting, my design wall, my tabletop ironing board and my sewing machine. It's a terrific room and hopefully will be organized soon.
