Let it Snow, Let it Snow!

It's my turn to show my "Holiday Lane". This blog hop has been filled with adorable little villages of houses all dressed up for the holidays. I would like to say a big Thank you to Mdm Samm at http://www.sewwequilt.com/ and Pauline at http://quiltnqueen.blogspot.com/ for organizing this hop and a big thanks to Jill from http://www.jillilystudio.com/ for supplying the pattern. Thanks for encouraging us to try new things. This pattern was easy to follow and fun to make.  I used fleece for the snow. I tried a couple different stitches to attach the snow to the roofs. Not sure which one I like, but it was fun trying different stitches on my machine. I found some cute mini holiday lights that I hand sewed to one of the trees. I think I will go back and add some to at least one more tree. I'm still just a "stitch in the ditch" quilter,  but I plan to get courageous and try new quilting techniques soon. I just purchased a book to learn machine quilting called "Show me how to Machine Quilt" by Kathy Sandbach.
I hope you enjoy my contribution to the hop:

This second photo is very blurry, but I wanted to show the mini lights on the tree. Aren't they just sweet? I plan to hand sew more on the tall tree to the right on the photo above.

Please check out the other adorable pillows for today:

UR Priceless!

This was a fun project!  Thanks to Katherine (our Priceless hostess) and Madame Samm (cheerleader extraordinaire and pattern maker).

I made four 2 coin purses. I was the lucky winner of Madame Samm's coin purse kit and it is one that I finished:  I thought adding the ribbon and button was just what it needed to be perfect.

My second finish is with Ghastlie fabric. I just love the Ghastlies and knew I wanted a coin purse featuring them. The next two photos are the front and back.

I picked fabric for 2 more coin purses, one "dressy" and one fun. But I am writing this post on Nov 2, just before heading out to the airport for a 2 week vacation. They are not finished. I need to sew on the handles. I am not sure if I will have internet access that will allow me to upload the photos if I finish on time. I will try........I am bringing them with to finish. This photo shows the fabrics I chose.

I forgot to do a giveaway last blog hop, so I want to make sure I do one this time. It will be some fabric.....I'm not sure what but I'm thinking Christmasy or wintery....... Just be a follower and leave a comment. Be sure to visit the rest of the Hop.The entire schedule is on my previous post. Todays schedule:

Are you ready for some Wicked?

I am wickedly happy to be participating in this Wicked Blog Hop. I've done a few Ghastlie blocks that will be put together for a lap quilt. The first one is 4 six inch squares that will make a 12 inch block:

The next three are each 12" squares.

I also tried another paper piecing. I saw a photocopy of this mummy and did a quick sketch. I'm not sure the original artist, but was told at my LQS that it was from an old Halloween QAL. If anyone knows the original artist, please let me know so I can give credit. Update: Marjory says the block is from : http://artisania.wordpress.com/2010/09/23/the-halloween-quilt-of-awesomeness. Thanks Marjory!  I added some ragged edges here and there and alternated white and off-white fabric to give him a more realistic look, then used a black starry background. (BTW those cute pumpkins are handmade by me from paper twist with handpainted faces. The little ghost with cat and pumpkin are handmade by me also of fabric and pompoms)

My last square is machine appliqued (the pumpkin, which is a pattern, resized 60%,  by Sewn into the Fabric) and the bat is my own design. This is my first attempt at machine applique. (up til now I only owned a 80 yr old machine that only had a straight stitch. My new machine isn't fancy but it does more than a straight stitch).

Thanks to Wendy for organizing all this Wickedness and to Madame Samm, to whom we all owe a debt of thanks for getting us all started at SewWeQuilt.

Thanks for visiting and enjoy the rest of the hop.
