Are you ready for some Wicked?

I am wickedly happy to be participating in this Wicked Blog Hop. I've done a few Ghastlie blocks that will be put together for a lap quilt. The first one is 4 six inch squares that will make a 12 inch block:

The next three are each 12" squares.

I also tried another paper piecing. I saw a photocopy of this mummy and did a quick sketch. I'm not sure the original artist, but was told at my LQS that it was from an old Halloween QAL. If anyone knows the original artist, please let me know so I can give credit. Update: Marjory says the block is from : http://artisania.wordpress.com/2010/09/23/the-halloween-quilt-of-awesomeness. Thanks Marjory!  I added some ragged edges here and there and alternated white and off-white fabric to give him a more realistic look, then used a black starry background. (BTW those cute pumpkins are handmade by me from paper twist with handpainted faces. The little ghost with cat and pumpkin are handmade by me also of fabric and pompoms)

My last square is machine appliqued (the pumpkin, which is a pattern, resized 60%,  by Sewn into the Fabric) and the bat is my own design. This is my first attempt at machine applique. (up til now I only owned a 80 yr old machine that only had a straight stitch. My new machine isn't fancy but it does more than a straight stitch).

Thanks to Wendy for organizing all this Wickedness and to Madame Samm, to whom we all owe a debt of thanks for getting us all started at SewWeQuilt.

Thanks for visiting and enjoy the rest of the hop.

PAY IT FORWARD CHAIN GIFT GIVING JUST FOR BLOGGERS

It's my turn to Pay It Forward (PIF) so if you would like a little present from me, come play along!
Here are the "rules" I used  simplesew to help me write them.

1. I will create a crafty gift for 5 people who comment to this post. This is a surprise, and will arrive to you anytime within the next 365 days.(I will actually get this to you before Christmas, but the rules you need to follow say 365 days). I will quilt you a special item.

2.In signing up for Pay it Forward (PIF) you are committing yourself to the Chain...Someone pays it forward to you. You pay it forward to others! Just post this, or something similar so others can get involved. Basically you will create your own post where you create gifts for people as well. It can be any number of people you want.

3. You need to have an active blog of your own...{or some way to post your PIF info like a flickr, pinterest, or Facebook account. Basically you'll need a place to announce your own PIF and to post some pics of the process.} after you post and contact me I have 365 days to get you a gift.

4. After commenting on this post, post something similar on your blog...so you can spread the PIF love. I will email you asking for your mailing address {and the online address where you are posting your PIF info} so I can mail your present. You don't qualify unless you post.

5.Just let me know if you want to play by leaving a comment saying that you want to play with your email address or be a reply blogger. Remember you have 365 days to mail your gift. Example: Melissa from issa.ino:handmade ask me what I wanted. I told her my fav colors and what I like to collect. I will email you, you will post, I will email you a few questions asking for your interests

My Turn!

Thank goodness for a DH who knows IT stuff. He helped me get the internet working again so I could post.
I picked some pretty fall fabrics and had BIG plans..... then our vacation came (we arrived home Monday morning around midnight and we both had to get up at 5:30 am for work).  Vacation was wonderful, spent with family and friends. Unfortunately since I was trying to finish a full size quilt and make blocks for this blog hop, I didn't get as many blocks done as I had planned. (I did get a little more than 2/3 of the full size flimsy done and 3 blocks for the hop between visits with family and friends, and quilt/fabric shopping with my sister).
It was fun creating these blocks.
Warm Feelings

This first square is part of a BOM from a local quilt shop. They are teaching how to use Perfect Templates. It was a fun block that my DH named for me "Warm Feelings"

Fall Harvest

This is my second square. I call it Fall Harvest. The block design I saw on Dots on Dots blog hop.  I knew as soon as I saw it, I wanted to try it in my fall fabrics.

Pumpkin Harvest

My last block is paper pieced. I really became hooked on paper piecing when we tried Regina Grewe's Piling Up paper piece pattern for the Bowls with Borders blog hop. I wanted to do a wagon with pumpkins, but couldn't find a pattern. So I tried my hand at designing my own. Everything except the wagon wheels is paper pieced. The wagon wheels are yoyo's with button centers.  I love it and will most likely finish it to hang on my table topper frame. The other blocks will be saved to make my "blog hop quilt".

I do have giveaway for any followers who leave a comment.
Just let me know you are a follower.
EDIT: Congrats to quiltingbydawn, who is my winner.
Thanks for stopping by.

I want to give a a big Thank You to Cherry and to Madame Samm. I appreciate all your hard work to keep these inspiring and challenging blog hops going. I keep learning new things and one day hope to be a good quilter.

Be sure to check out the other quilters of the day, if you haven't already:

Leafs Me Happy Blog Hop has started!!

I had planned on posting the beginning of the new blog hop this morning, but unfortunately I was having internet problems. I couldn't post, I couldn't read the blogs from today, I couldn't write my post for tomorrow. I was freaking out a bit, but my DH was already at work and I only had a short time before I had to be at work.  Bummer! Finally after a LOOOONG day at work (first day back from vacation and we arrived home from the airport at almost midnight), I was able to get my DH to help me get the internet up and running.

Sorry for the delay, but here is the schedule for the Leafs Me Happy blog hop:
