Are you ready for some Wicked?

I am wickedly happy to be participating in this Wicked Blog Hop. I've done a few Ghastlie blocks that will be put together for a lap quilt. The first one is 4 six inch squares that will make a 12 inch block:

The next three are each 12" squares.

I also tried another paper piecing. I saw a photocopy of this mummy and did a quick sketch. I'm not sure the original artist, but was told at my LQS that it was from an old Halloween QAL. If anyone knows the original artist, please let me know so I can give credit. Update: Marjory says the block is from : http://artisania.wordpress.com/2010/09/23/the-halloween-quilt-of-awesomeness. Thanks Marjory!  I added some ragged edges here and there and alternated white and off-white fabric to give him a more realistic look, then used a black starry background. (BTW those cute pumpkins are handmade by me from paper twist with handpainted faces. The little ghost with cat and pumpkin are handmade by me also of fabric and pompoms)

My last square is machine appliqued (the pumpkin, which is a pattern, resized 60%,  by Sewn into the Fabric) and the bat is my own design. This is my first attempt at machine applique. (up til now I only owned a 80 yr old machine that only had a straight stitch. My new machine isn't fancy but it does more than a straight stitch).

Thanks to Wendy for organizing all this Wickedness and to Madame Samm, to whom we all owe a debt of thanks for getting us all started at SewWeQuilt.

Thanks for visiting and enjoy the rest of the hop.

  1. Love the Ghastlies - not an easy fabric print to fussy cut. And wonderful blocks - the mummy is just yummy!

  7. Got to love those Ghastlies. They are so much fun. Is there going to be a press release you think for the new shows you just pitched there? I think Witches gone wild will be a smash hit....The mummy is amazingly creapy! You did really well with that pumpkin. Using a machine no less.....that is really wicked!
